"After forty days Noah opened a window he had made in the ark and sent out a raven, and it kept flying back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth. Then he sent out a dove to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground. But the dove could find nowhere to perch because there was water over all the surface of the earth; so it returned to Noah in the ark. He reached out his hand and took the dove and brought it back to himself in the ark. He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark. When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth."~Genesis 8:6-11

平安 Peace Out

Day 75.

Tomorrow I leave for the Philippines for the summer!

Words really cannot express how much I am looking forward to going and spreading the gospel there.  I feel so blessed to have this opportunity to spread the love that I have received so abundantly from God.  I just hope that during my time there, I will really be able to fully submit myself to God's will and be a tool for him.  I hope that he works in me and through me each day.

Thank you all for your prayers and support throughout my time here.  I look forward to telling you all stories when I return!

彼得 Peter

Friday was the last day on the topic of missions.  We talked about it through using the story of Jesus walking on water (Matthew 14:22-33).

Oftentimes, when we hear this story-about Peter getting out of the boat, and then losing faith and beginning to sink-we talk about Peter's failure.  We point to when he took his eyes off of Jesus.  We look down on Peter for being so faithless.

Peter was not faithless.  Peter did not fail.  There were 11 other men who didn't even have the guts to get off the boat.  Amidst the wind and crashing waves, they were clinging to the thing they thought would give them the most security.  Only Peter thought about ditching the thing the world would want him to depend on and began walking towards Jesus.

In class, we talked about what the other disciples might have been saying to Peter as he was getting off the boat.  Things like, "Are you crazy?!" and, "Why are you always trying to show off?" and, "Don't you dare step off this boat, you're going to sink."  It's highly unlikely that any of them were shouting over the storm, "Sweet, Peter! That's awesome.  You go for it!  Bless you, man."

Don, our speaker said, this is often what happens when people "step off the boat" into the missions field.  The people closest to us, the ones we would hope support us and encourage us say things like, "Are you crazy?" "Why don't you get a real job?"  "Can't you just do something closer to home?"  "Get a real life."

I just want to say how thankful I am that I am surround by Christians who support me in being here.  I am so thankful to have this opportunity and to be here with the blessing of my family and friends.  Thank you all for your support and prayers through my time here.
